(Notice Sidney is waving in his picture)

NOT FOR ADOPTION!!!

Sidney was badly abused when we saw him.  The white of this face was black and blue form being punched.  He also was 80 grams under weight. He screamed and ate walls or anything he could get his beak on.  He was a physical and emotional mess!  He hadn’t had a bath in ages and his nails were like daggers.  LOL!  Before he came to live with us, Sidney had 6 owners in less than 2 years.  Poor baby was a mess.  After a vet visit, I discovered he wasn’t the baby I thought as he had 10 yrs. of history with them.  It seems prior to being bounced from home to home, he was a consignment piece (Downriver pet shop) for many years!!  Oh-boy did he have behavioral problems.

Now, after 13 years, he is spoiled rotten and has gained the much-needed weight.  Sidney is one of my many babies and will continue live with us for as long as we can care for him.  He has also recovered from his 40# wood habit. (LOL!) Because he never had any toys in his cage, when he did get them, they were destroyed immediately!  After about a year of buying 40# boxes of wood pieces, he now knows he’ll always have things to play with and destroy.  A box of wood lasted one week or less at in the beginning. He now eats off a spoon, takes baths in the tub with his toys and is one of the family.

Before thinking about becoming a macaw owner …PLEASE READ and learn how much attention they need and the expense involved.  Remember that a $40.00 wood purchase is given with love to be destroyed!  They are known for screaming VERY loudly. As for eating walls…not in this house he has too many other things to keep him happy, along with a place at the table.

We love him!!!!!
